If you haven’t heard of Moissanite (aka gem quality silicon carbide), its appearance is often mistook for a diamond. However it is no diamond simulant. It surpasses a diamond in both fire and brilliance. Its superior hardness make it ideal for heirloom quality jewelry as it is extremely resistant to scratching, chipping and breaking. Moissanite was first discovered in minute quantities from particles carried to earth by a meteorite 50,000 years ago. It is now available as faceted gemstones in a large array of shapes and sizes.
